According to lead researcher Christina Chrysohoou of the University of Athens in Greece, older people who drink one to two cups of coffee a day elastic blood vessels than those who drink less or more.

They found that 56 percent of the group drank one or two cups of coffee a day and that the people in that group had 25 percent greater blood vessel elasticity.

She added, “We recommend hypertensive patients drink coffee in moderation, just one to two cups a day, as it seems that it may improve arterial aging,” Chrysohoou says.

Inspired by the Greenwich Village coffee houses of the 1960’s, The Randolph looks to cultivate an environment where independent thinkers and free spirits gather and appreciate the rituals of drinking coffee.

Drawing on values rooted in cocktail bartending, the team’s belief is that offering the coffee of just one roaster is as limiting as carrying the whiskey of just one distiller. As such, The Randolph sources and blends its beans from an evolving variety of roasters including Oslo.

In addition, these brews can be augmented – blending the bean’s inherent complexities with spices and house-made elixirs. These augmented brews, such as the Pemberton (kola nut, eucalyptus and neroli) and the New World (toasted pecans, cream and salt) are seasonally inspired and in line with the culinary tradition of the modern chef and bartender.

The slow bar showcases an even wider array of options, featuring hand-blown glass pourovers, press pots timed via hour glass and all the possibilities of a complete spirits program.

Oslo is bringing small-batch roasting culture to Bushwick!

Starting Wednesday (May 26), and continuing through November, Oslo will be selling single-cup pour-over iced and hot coffee at The Bushwick Farmers Market. We will be featuring our rotating selection of single varietal iced coffees, as we have been doing at our retail locations, but using the Hario iced pour-over method, which involves slowly brewing hot coffee directly onto ice cubes for what has to be the best tasting iced coffee in the city. You lucky Buskwickers, Bushwackers, Bushwickians, BushWiccans, whatever you call yourselves out there! Tell your friends and go to bushwickfarmersmarket.org for more info.
